Artist BIO
Alison graduated with a degree in fine art in the late ’80s in West Sussex. Returning to her native Oxfordshire she developed a business in illustration that won her first prize in the Oxon ‘Livewire Business’ award in 1990 ( now called CorporateLivewire).
A return to fine art was next through community art involvement such as Oxford Artweeks, assisting the council backed ‘Coral Arts’ & setting up a lifelong drawing classes at the Asian Cultural Centre.
Developing her practise as a painter in the beautiful & wild environment of Boars Hill, Alison also showcased her art through a few exhibitions in the city, for examples – Art et Cetera Gallery & The Old Fire Station.
The weekly life drawing classes inevitably led to a long & highly rewarding career in secondary teaching, including 3 posts as head of art. Teaching art & the students themselves were such an inspiration. Invaluable understanding of professionalism & management, coupled with a readiness to rake risks & constantly experiment now empower her next stage in life: Realisation of a lifelong dream to be an artist full-time finally came in 2023.
